Biochemistry Student Ambassador
Dallas Ford
Dallas is majoring in Biochemistry and double minoring in Biology and Chinese. He is a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. He works as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Jurss Lab. He is also on the Student Activities Association’s Committee 360. In his free time, he volunteers with Aqua Culture and Hill Country Roots.
Why did you choose to attend UM?
I loved the campus, especially the Grove in front of Coulter and I loved the people I met there. My older sister was also a chemistry major so I had been coming to ole miss since I was young.
When and how did you choose your major(s)/minor(s)?
I’ve taken Chinese since 7th grade and wanted to continue it I also think it would be beneficial when I become a physician to be fluent in a second language.
What do you hope to do after you graduate? What are your career goals/ plans for postgraduation?
UMMC- I have been accepted through the PROMISE program.
Why is your department a special place?
The Coulter lobby gossip plus the Starbucks never misses.
What is your go-to meal in Oxford?
Rice and Spice- Either stir fried veggies or cashew chicken must be spice level 3 or higher.
What are some dream travel destinations?
China, France, Amsterdam
What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you’d tell your past self (about the general college experience)?
MEET people in your classes and your dorms. The people around you will be so much fun.
